Anita Chitaya has a gift: she can help bring abundant food from dead soil, she can make men fight for gender equality, and maybe she can end child hunger in her village. Now, to save her home in Malawi from extreme weather, she faces her greatest challenge: persuading Americans that climate change is real. Traveling from Malawi to California to the White House, she meets climate sceptics and despairing farmers. Her journey takes her across all the divisions that shape the USA: from the rural-urban divide, to schisms of race, class and gender, and to the American exceptionalism that remains a part of the culture. It will take all her skill and experience to help Americans recognise, and free themselves from, a logic that is already destroying the Earth.

A bit about Eden Project Communities

Eden Project Communities are the people behind The Big Lunch — the UK's annual celebration for neighbours and communities that brings millions together on the first weekend in June. They also support a Network of community-minded people across the whole of the UK through Community Camps — online and at the Eden Project in Cornwall - as well as regular meet-ups, network events and workshops that enable people to bring their community project ideas to life.

A massive 17.2 million people took part in The Big Lunch 2022, that’s one in four of the UK population! The Big Lunch encourages people to get together to share fun, food and

time and can be anything from a small gathering and a cup of tea with a neighbour, to a full-blown street party. Often, it’s the start of more great things happening in communities, as people feel more connected and want to make positive changes where they live.
