Take a peek inside for all the goss in England!
| | The team at Eden Project Communities have been busy little beavers this September! Over the month we have focused on inter-generational friendships; highlighting the benefits of sharing knowledge and ideas across the years with some great ideas around colouring groups for seniors, connecting with the older people in your community and celebrating enduring friendships born out of Big Lunches. We've taken inspiration from Charlton Manor Primary School, who have made their school the heart of the community by setting up a special lunch club. Our Delivery Manager Tracey has also written a lovely blog about how to deal with unsettling transition periods in life.
As usual, there is lots going on and plenty to get involved with. Keep checking in with our social pages to stay up to date!
| | | Free Funding Event Whether you’ve been inspired to start something new after holding a Big Lunch, or your project has been running for years, funding will always be a key part of making your ideas become reality. Join us in sharing skills and experiences, ask questions and find answers around how to make the most of the current funding world and take your project or idea to the next level.
| | | | | Local funding for action Do you know a local project that needs funding? The Aviva Community Fund is back, offering support and funding to causes that make a real difference where you live. Put forward an idea that will benefit your community and it could get funding from £1,000 to up to £25,000.
| | | | | Refugee Spotlight Month October 5-29 marks Refugee Spotlight month, aimed at bringing people together to raise awareness of loneliness and other issues affecting refugees and asylum seekers. Why not hold a ‘start a conversation’ event in your community? If you organise a screening of the film 8 Borders 8 Days for more than 15 people, Ben & Jerry’s will supply the ice cream for free! Contact Peter for more details on plefort@EdenProject.com
| | | | | Eden Sleepout For the fourth year running, the Eden Project is taking part in the national Sleep Out to raise awareness and funding for the Amber Foundation and St Petroc's Society who support homeless people. Events will be taking place in 14 locations around the country with approx. 2000 people participating. Our home in Cornwall at the Eden Project will be hosting a sleepout between the magnificent biomes.
| | | | | Events near you We have lots of events for you to get involved in over the next few months. Come along to a fabulous Share Fair in Essex, take part in drop-in sessions focused on event programming in Leeds or learn about design thinking for your projects. Keep an eye on our facebook page as more events will be published soon.
| | | | | Community grants Could your project do with funding to the tune of £50K? From July, Power to Change is again inviting applications from projects in England that are supporting a charitable need in the community.
